Wayne Newton : It's Only the Good Times
7" Muntz "master" tape

NOTE: Probably bulk erased (see below)

I guarantee you don't have this. It's the only one in existence. From the remains of the once great Muntz/Stereo-Pak company. When they closed down, they tossed their library of duplication masters (or they burned up in the fire). These duplication master tapes were reels created from high-quality submaster tapes provided by the record company. These are the actual "master" tapes used to create the 4-track tapes that Muntz produced. If you ever owned this title on Muntz 4-track, it was produced using this very master tape. The tape includes annotations on dates when this tape was pulled to run off some commercial 4-track tapes.

Muntz was the leading manufacturer of in-car audio for much of the '60s. This was the 4-track tape system. In the mid '60s, the competitive 8-track system was introduced. By the late '60s, the 8-track was broadly accepted by the industry and in 1970, after a hobbling warehouse fire a couple of years earier, Muntz/Stereo-Pak closed their doors for good.

This tape is one of a stash that was created after the fire. It is from a group of tapes that were supposed to be bulk erased. That means that the program that was once on the tape is probably erased. Assume that it's blank for the purposes of this auction. Nonetheless, this is a genuine piece of history, and if you're a Wayne Newton collector, you'll want to add this to your collection.
