Elven inspired Wire wrapped pendant with a lot of weaving and a beautiful back!! You can easily modify the stone size and wire gauges as per your choice. Enjoy creating beautiful pendants with this tutorial.
This is an intermediate level tutorial. You should have basic knowledge of Wire weaving and should be able to hand form curves!! The size of final pendant created in this tutorial is
3” Height x 1 ¼” Width
Materials:
Wires:
1. 20ga (gauge) solid round dead soft copper wire
2. 28ga (gauge) solid round dead soft copper wire
Cabochon stone :
Teardrop shape cabochon with flat back: 25 mm Width x 38 mm Height
Copper beads:
2.5mm bead : 1 bead
Tools :
1. Flat nose pliers
2. Flush cutters for cutting the wire
3. 5mm Dowel / bail making pliers
4. File (to smooth out all cut ends of wire)
5. Jewelry Polishing pad or Nylon jaw pliers to straighten the wires
6. Marker pen
7. Ruler to measure
For final finishing:
You can leave the copper pendant as it is looking shiny or with natural tarnish. But I prefer to polish my pieces to high gloss, to do that you will need following
1. Liver of sulfur or any copper antiquing solution
2. Steel wool
3. Flexible shaft rotary tool with Cotton buff wheel
4. Polishing compound of your choice
