Unusual large antique copper engraved map of Africa, c. 1740, by Nicolaes Visscher II (1649-1702), and Petrus Schenk (1660-1718).

The Visscher family were very important dealers and map publishers in Amsterdam in the 18th century.

P. Schenk was the founder of one of the best-known publishing firms of Amsterdam in the 18th century .


The author of the map is Adam Friedrich Zurner ( 1679-1742). The map is decorated with a large cartouche in colors.


Size with margins : 61 x 52 cm / 24 x 20,4 inches

Edition : Amsterdam, c. 1710, 18e Century.

Condition : good condition, the lower margin has been extended, small foxing in the right bottom corner.
