The map is decorated by some insets all around, showing the uniforms of the French army, the national and interantional flags and the ancient coins used in France.

In lower side, the French decorations and commemorative medallions. In right side of the map, 4 city plans of Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, and a map of North Africa. In upper right side, a small planisphere showing the French colonies and the lines of steam navigation.

In upper left side, a vignette representing the offices of Le Petit Journal in Paris.
