There is little doubt that this painting has seen some hard times, therefore, the pricing is reflective of this.
None the less, it is a beautiful painting and there have been no signs that the browning has increased in the past five years. Sometimes paintings are not perfect and they show their age and their tough times but that does not mean they don't deserved to be loved. Sometimes there is perfection in imperfection (as in the Japanese term "wabi-sabi" - the world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection).
Campbell is a listed artist and a painter, mainly a watercolourist; member of the V.A.S. and awarded Albury prizes for watercolour, 1953, 1956, 1959.
