WOMEN + WAVES HAVE TEAMED UP WITH H&M ON A SUSTAINABLE SWIMWEAR AND SURFWEAR COLLECTION TO CELEBRATE WOMEN IN SURFING.
Designed to inspire women on land and on water, the range includes contemporary functional swimwear to support an active lifestyle.
“We really wanted each piece not only to be practical but also reflect the strength and empowerment of women surfing together,” said Women + Waves founder, Rachel Murphy. “I hope the H&M collaboration will inspire women to surf, plus raise awareness of keeping the oceans clean.“
The whole collection is made from fabric blends of at least 50% sustainably sourced materials including recycled polyamide, recycled polyester and organic cotton.
Details including zip openings, body-enhancing seams and secure straps were tried-and-tested to accommodate for the physical demands of surfing so that practical support is offered for confidence in the water.
This is H&M’s first partnership with a women’s surf society, having been drawn to the grassroots story behind Cornwall-based Women + Waves. The community started in 2017 as casual once-a-week surf gatherings and has since grown into a global community of water-women and wave riders.
