ZAMBIAN AFRICAN HARPOON, SLINGSHOT FISHING SPEAR, 47" FULLY FUNCTIONING AND WORKING. VINTAGE, AND POSSIBLY ANTIQUE.  MADE IN ZAMBIA, AND PURCHASED IN SOUTH AFRICA, AS WERE MANY OF THE MORE PRIMITIVE WEAPONS I PURCHASED IN THE 1980s (I ALSO HAVE BUSHMEN BOW AND POISON ARROW SETS, WALKING STICKS, ETC.).  IT IS 47" LONG, WITH A 19" RUBBER SLING AND MADE OF ALUMINUM AND STEEL, WITH A GRIP OF BLACK PLASTIC TAPE OVER CORD WRAPPED AROUND THE SHAFT. THE OXIDATION, SCUFFS AND THE MINOR SCRATCHES ALL COMBINE TO MAKE IT LOOK AMAZINGLY AUTHENTIC, AND THE RUSTED TINES (WHICH ARE STILL QUITE STRONG AND STRUCTURALLY SOUND) MAKE IT LOOK EVEN MORE SO.
PLEASE VIEW THE DETAILED PHOTOS, AND READ THE CONDITION REPORT ABOVE, TO DETERMINE ITS CONDITION FOR YOURSELF.

PURCHASED IN THE 1988 FROM PULA PULA ANTIQUES SHOP IN JOHANNESBURG SOUTH AFRICA, WHO OBTAINED IT DIRECTLY FROM THE MASTER AFRICAN ARTIFACTS MUSEUM COLLECTION OF FRANK A. GAUDIN (1938-2011) WHO, IN TURN, PROBABLY OBTAINED IT DIRECTLY FROM AN OLD KALAHARI KUNG BUSHMAN. It had been in use, probably years or decades before, and is still in used but nearly mint condition.

Purchased on a business trip to South Africa in the 1980s with a large selection of other African artifacts, it's been stored in our factory ever since, and is still in the same pristine, working condition.  If requested, I could include a copy of the original receipt, and a copy of Frank Gaudin's BUSHMAN'S HUNTING BAG Guide-- with detailed descriptions of many other artifacts I purchased (and including those I didn't purchase).
Canadian-born South African Frank Gaudin was, sadly to say, tortured and murdered on his African Artifacts Museum at Blaauwbank, Randfontein, Gauteng South Africa on June 4, 2011, at the age of 73.  He started his African Artifacts Museum in 1966, and supplied many Johannesburg antique and artifact dealers for decades.

I ALSO HAVE TWO MORE 19" DIRKS, SPANISH MAIN GAUCHE PARRYING DAGGERS, BOTH MADE IN TOLEDO, SPAIN.
