Rare 19th Embroidery Silk Tapestry French D.A. PEREZ Stevengraph Neyret Ferres

Framed in custom Italian gold leafed frame with professional matting.

23 x 19 inches framed.

Pérez’s artistic production included designs for woven silk tapestries for Neyret Frères et Cie of St. Etienne in the Rhone Valley region.

The Company made small scale silk tapestries as a side line to its primary business of designing luxury ribbons for special medals, opulent millenary & haute couture fashion.

This silk woven art tapestry scene depicts a French couple walking down a cobbled street in the rain with spectators along the sidewalk, many with umbrellas. It is monochrome; black, cream, and shades of gray.

The mark "D.A.Perez" is in one corner. Perez was a nineteenth century French painter and tapestry designer.
