Very unusual antique wood engraved map of Poland and Hungary, by Sebastian MUNSTER (1488-1552). 

French text on verso.

The map extends from Moravia and Bosnia in west to Moscovia and Pont Euxin in east. It shows Poland, White Russia, Crimea, Hungary, a part of Bosnia and Bulgaria, with the course of danube to the Black Sea.


Edition : Cosmographie Universelle du Monde de Sebastian Munster, French edition, 1568, Basle, 16th Century.

Size of the map with margins : 37 x 29,5 cm / 14,5 x 11,4 inches

Condition : good condition, small renforts in lower margin on the back and on the back of the center margin, handed colored.

Sebastian Münster (20 January 1488 – 26 May 1552) was a German cartographer, cosmographer, and a Christian Hebraist scholar. His work, the Cosmographia, was the earliest description of the world.
