RARE 100% GENUINE 1970's COLD WAR VINTAGE

CZECH CIVIL DEFENCE ISSUE LARGE 3-PIECE  NUCLEAR BUNKER / AIR RAID SHELTER WALL SIGN

LARGE 111cm x 40cm PRINTED PLASTIC SIGN - NEW-OLD-STOCK (LIGHT STORAGE MARKS)

This signs dates from the late 1970's and were issued by the Czechoslovakian Civil Defence authorities for use in public nuclear bunkers / fallout shelters, of which the Czech government maintained a huge number of for the protection of the civil population in the event of WW3. These signs were the last standardized system for signposting bunkers and replaced earlier enamel signs which had come in varying designs, this large direction sign bears the legend "Úkryt", which is the main Czech word used to denote an air raid/fallout shelter.

Sign is made up of three separate parts, when assembled it measures approximately 111cm x 40cm, it is made from thin plastic with the writing screen printed, the manufacturer was Dřevoplast and each has pre-drilled holes in the corner for mounting.

CONDITION: Sign is new-old-stock and was taken straight from the factory cardboard packaging in which it had sat wrapped up unused since the 1970's. There is some very light discolouration and a few light marks from storage but this is simply unavoidable and age-related, it would be impossible to find an example in better condition. ALL photos show the ACTUAL sign that you will receive.

These are RARE signs, these multi-part larger items are particularly hard to source as only one sign was issued in the complete shelter sign marking kit, and this is the only complete example I have ever found. Almost certainly the only example in the UK, a great piece of Cold War history, must be of interest to someone!
