RARE 100% GENUINE 1970's COLD WAR VINTAGE

CZECH CIVIL DEFENCE ISSUE 4-PIECE  NUCLEAR BUNKER / AIR RAID SHELTER WALL SIGN SETS

LARGE 111cm x 40cm PRINTED PLASTIC SIGN - NEW-OLD-STOCK (LIGHT STORAGE MARKS)

These sign sets date from the late 1970's and were issued by the Czechoslovakian Civil Defence authorities for use in public nuclear bunkers / fallout shelters, of which the Czech government maintained a huge number of for the protection of the civil population in the event of WW3. These signs were the last standardized system for signposting bunkers and replaced earlier enamel signs which had come in varying designs, the direction sign bears the legend "Úkryt", which is the main Czech word used to denote an air raid/fallout shelter, the "K" on the door sign again stand for "Kryt".

The direction sign is made up of three separate parts, when assembled it measures approximately 81cm x 28cm, the door sign comes in at 31cm x 28cm. Both signs are made from thin plastic with the writing screen printed, the manufacturer was Dřevoplast and each has pre-drilled holes in the corner for mounting.

CONDITION: I have three signs sets in stock, all signs are new-old-stock and were taken straight from the factory cardboard packaging in which they have sat wrapped up unused since the 1970's. There are some light scratch marks from storage but this is simply unavoidable and age-related, it would be impossible to find an example in better condition. ALL photos show  ACTUAL stock for sale

These are RARE signs, these multi-part larger items are particularly hard to source. Almost certainly the only example in the UK, a great piece of Cold War history, must be of interest to someone!
