As their first webstore exclusive, Omnivore Recordings released 500

copies of Big Star’s Third [Test Pressing Edition] pressed on 180-gram

clear vinyl. Same awesome cut and pressing as the black vinyl

Record Store Day version, same cool inserts, same cool packaging—

a second bite of the apple for those who got shut out on RSD! They

were limited to one per customer, so everyone would have a shot.

Omnivore did this as a huge “thank you” to their customers for

being in on the ground floor with them early.

Some were probably aware that back in April of 2011

Omnivore’s very first two releases were exclusives for Record Store

Day. Big Star’s legendary album, Third [Test Pressing Edition] being

one of those and it blew off the shelves quicker than quick. It was the

biggest Record Store Day yet, and Omnivore was really happy to

make their debut then and contribute to a great day. In fact, their

Big Star package wound up pictured in Rolling Stone alongside the

story about how successful RSD was that year. Back when they

manufactured the 180-gram black vinyl Big Star package, they also

manufactured an additional 500 on 180-gram clear vinyl.
Why? So they could offer them to their customers as the first

exclusive made especially for their webstore! Unfortunately, 14
copies escaped the warehouse while we were getting the webstore
ready. Omnivore was contacted by some of the lucky folks who

scored a copy, and they know there have been questions about

their legitimacy and origin, THEY just couldn’t talk about the clear

vinyl versions—until now!
