The high degree of motorization of the Wehrmacht units became one of the reasons for the rapid campaigns in the initial period of World War II. Special off-road cars, which were used at the front, helped to solve combat and auxiliary tasks successfully. Light standard off-road vehicles in the versions of staff, anti-aircraft and radio vehicles could be found in many units of the German army. The vehicles were quite complex in design, that`s why they were in relatively small amount in the Wehrmacht units – about 13,000 pieces.

Light standard off-road vehicles - leichten gelände Einheits Personen-Kraftwagen, in the variants of staff, anti-aircraft and radio vehicles, could be found in many units of the German army. They had a single design with the same parameters, similar appearance and military indexes from Kfz.1 to Kfz.4.
The cars had a frame chassis, a five-speed gearbox and a mechanical drum brake drive. They also had permanent all-wheel drive with a differential lock, a single-stage transfer case, and an independent spring suspension. The machines were quite complex in design, and this partly explains their relatively small number in the Wehrmacht units - about 13,000 pieces.
