 Grace was always in the lookout for ‘special’ and different jewelry to accessorize her outfits.  The media of the world looked to her and a few other woman in the world to set the standards for elegance, sophistication, and beauty.

 Grace was shopping in Paris in the early 1970's and spotted a really different necklace in a major store.  Not fully liking the design they offered as being ‘too dull’, she asked to make changes.  She loved the pendant hanging which was an Aventurine oval surrounding a ‘white’ stone, but not happy with the all Aventurine stone ‘chain’.

 Grace had suggested alternating balls of Aventurine with the material of the pendant center. The ‘white’ stone in the center of the aventurine was White Howlite from mines in Brazil, and the aventurine was from the same area of Brazil as well.

 As this piece did not exist, the store had to write to supplier in Brazil, describing the new stones and their size, and when the stones arrived create the necklace.  It took more than six months but the necklace was slowly but surely coming together.  Grace literally forgot about the ‘order’ and was pleasantly surprised when told it had arrived.  That surprise turned to a ‘slight’ scream when she was in Paris to pickup the new necklace, as the necklace was made to hang to her waist.  Grace thought it looked better shorter, and the new necklace was adjusted within a few hours and delivered to the Grimaldi’s avenue de Foch home just in time for what Grace called her “fabulous Christmas gift to herself”.

 Although costing in the many thousands of dollars, Grace considered it for her everyday use, not for use with a ‘Ball’ gown.  (In Today’s money, this necklace cost about $18,000.00 - £14,000.00If you have a flair for drama, like an award winning actress, this necklace is your prize.
