Yak-11 (NATO classification: Moose) - Soviet training fighter. Used from 1947 to 1962. The aircraft in its class has set a number of world speed records.
The prototype of the Yak-11 two-seater improved trainer aircraft made its first flight in 1945 and was originally known as the Yak-3UTI. Then tests with the ASh-21 radial engine were continued, and in October 1946 a prototype appeared, which received the designation Yak-11.
The aircraft had a metal wing, a mixed fuselage and a fully retractable landing gear with a tail wheel; the instructor and the cadet were located in a common glazed cockpit. Motor - ASh-21, 570 hp with., seven-cylinder air-cooled star.
The engine control, instruments for monitoring its operation and aeronautical equipment are located on the instrument panels and side panels of the front cockpit, which is the student's cockpit. In the rear, instructor's cockpit, the main control of the aircraft and the engine is duplicated. Communication with the ground and with other aircraft is provided by the RSIU-ZM VHF radio station, which can be used both from the front and rear cockpits.
A total of 4,566 aircraft were produced. The aircraft was used in 19 countries of the world.
