8.8 level:
Low carbon steel has low strength and hardness, high plasticity and toughness, good welding performance, good forgeability and stamping ability, and low carbon content also brings better corrosion resistance

10.9 level:
SCM435 features: high static strength, impact toughness and high fatigue limit, higher hardenability than 40Cr, high creep strength and endurance strength at high temperature, long-term working temperature can reach 500°C;

Level 12.9:
40Cr can obtain higher surface hardness after nitriding treatment. After 40Cr quenching and tempering, the nitriding treatment hardness can reach up to 72~78HRA, and the core hardness can reach 43~55HRC.

Generally, those above 8.8 are called high strength, and 8.8, 10.9, and 12.9 are all high strength. The process is basically the same, the difference lies in the material and mechanical properties. Grade 8.8 is more common, such as agricultural machinery and automobiles, 10.9 is mainly used for construction tower cranes, 12.9 aviation, railways and so on.
