Seed Paper Planting Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare your pot and fill 2/3 full with well-drained, nutrient rich soil.  Pat down the soil and add more if necessary. You want the pot to be firmly full, but not completely packed.

Step 2: Take your plantable paper and cover the soil in the prepared pot or garden bed. Spread a 1/8 inch layer of soil over the plantable paper pieces and tamp down gently on top.

Step 3: After planting the paper in your pot, give it a good watering and place in a sunny spot, or under grow lights. You want the paper and the soil to be nicely damp but not floating in water. During the first 10 days, keep the paper moist at all times, as the water is essential for germination.

Step 4: Once sprouts begin to appear, continue to keep the paper moist but be careful not to overwater. Once sturdy plants appear, water as needed. Although the paper can be planted indoors or outdoors, we recommend planting outside so the bees, butterflies and other pollinators can reap the benefits! Planting the paper near other pollinator plants is a great way to attract more of our pollinator friends. We do not recommend planting outside if you’re experiencing extreme cold or hot weather!

Step 5: Enjoy the benefits of this beautiful plant that assists in creating a thriving habitat for our essential pollinators!

What is seed paper? Plantable seed paper is a biodegradable eco-paper that is made with post-consumer materials (no trees harmed for this paper!) and embedded with seeds. When the paper is planted in a pot of soil, the seeds grow and the paper composts away. All that is left behind is flowers.

Why seed paper? At Urban Buzz Candle Co., we believe it is our responsibility to leave our planet in better shape than we found it. By creating a carbon neutral product, it allows us to not only share the healthiest candles around, but also gives YOU the opportunity to shop sustainably and help draw down carbon from the atmosphere while providing a thriving habitat for our pollinator friends!

What seeds are in my label?  Your seed paper contains a Black Eyed Susan perennial plant which can be planted within 2 years. This cheerful blossom is most at home in prairie lands, plains, meadows, and pastures where it will attract birds, bees and butterflies. Members of the beautifully golden sunflower family, these long blooming butterfly attractants are easily recognized with their golden yellow petals surrounding a deep black eye.
