OLD SOLID CUSTOMIZED LEATHER SADDLE SAN MARCO BRAND

 

§  "San Marco" solid leather saddle with in relief  written  on the original aluminum plate on the back, a racing model, lightened in leather with two cuts on the sides handled by expert hands

§  These saddles were sometimes also lowered on the iron frame, customized by experienced craftsmen who worked with great skill. The leather in auction is very well preserved and so the rivets and the tensioning screw

§  The saddle is perfectly usable in safety

 

§  An old mechanic specializing in old racing bicycles, a true master, explained to me that to give new life and strength to these old saddles, it was necessary to immerse them in water for a week changing the water every two days, or more often, then before they began to dry to treat the bottom of the leather with Brooks grease  and roll in the top an iron cylinder (even a seat post is fine) or a glass bottle until the leather came back soft as a glove and strong as the steel

Sella “San Marco”

 

·         Con scritta in rilievo del marchio su targhetta originale in alluminio posta sul retro della sella in cuoio rigido, ,modello da corsa,alleggerita  nel cuoio con due tagli ai lati effettuati da mano esperta.. Queste selle venivano a volte abbassate anche nel telaio in ferro, personalizzate da esperti artigiani che le elaboravano con grande maestria

·         Il cuoio è molto ben conservato e così i rivetti e la vite di  tensionamento..La sella è perfettamente utilizzabile in tutta sicurezza

·         Un vecchio meccanico specializzato  in biciclette da corsa d’epoca,, un vero maestro,, mi spiegava che per ridare nuova  vita e forza a queste selle bisognava immergerle in acqua per un settimana cambiando l’acqua  ogni due giorni ,, o anche più spesso,poi prima che cominciassero ad asciugare  trattare  la parte inferiore del cuoio con grasso Brooks  e rotolare nella parte superiore un cilindro di ferro ( anche un reggisella va bene) o una bottiglia in vetro finche’ il cuoio non tornasse morbido come un guanto e forte come l’acciaio…
