This effect of rainbow iridescent sugar appears only in very high quality gems.

In this stone there are no impurities of iron, and because of this it has a pure white and at the same time transparent color of the mineral.

If you hold it in your hands, you will see how every part of the entire surface of Plagioclase ( moonstone)  will spark and shine with all the colors of the rainbow, like pieces of sugar crystals.

The bright white color of the mineral will not leave you indifferent!

Belomorite, White Belomorite, Moonstone Plagioclase ( moonstone)

Moonstone is a sodium potassium aluminium silicate ((Na,K)AlSi3O8) of the feldspar group that displays a pearly and opalescent schiller. An alternative name is hecatolite.

Its name is derived from a visual effect, sheen or schiller (play of color), caused by light diffraction within a micro-structure consisting of regular exsolution layers (lamellae) of different alkali feldspars (orthoclase and sodium-rich plagioclase).

Moonstone has been used in jewelry for millennia, including ancient civilizations. The Romans admired moonstone, as they believed it was born from solidified rays of the Moon. Both the Romans and Greeks associated moonstone with their lunar deities. In more recent history, moonstone became popular during the Art Nouveau period; French goldsmith René Lalique and many others created a large quantity of jewelry using this stone.

The most common moonstone is of the plagioclase feldspar mineral belomorite, named for an early mining in near area white sea northen Karelia, Russia Solid solution of the plagioclase feldspar oligoclase +/- the potassium feldspar orthoclase also produces moonstone specimens.

The moonstone is the Florida State Gemstone; it was designated as such in 1970 to commemorate the Moon landings, which took off from Kennedy Space Center. Despite it being the Florida State Gemstone, it does not naturally occur in the state.

Moonstone is always cut either in cabochon or with a plane surface, in order to better show its multi-color sheen.

The metaphysical properties of belomorite include giving the ability to its owner to predict the occurrence of diseases. It pushes the holder to do preventive vaccination or engage in recreational gymnastics to prevent a particular disease. Belomorite mineral is said to induce its owner to put things in order in the house and office, and in his thoughts and mind. It gives the necessary order in his personal life. Gem is suitable for almost all signs of the zodiac.

Cabochons do it myself, giving everyone special attention! Also I can make the necessary shapes, sizes, sets. All the cabochons do without a backing.

For me, working with gemstones, not just work, as for those who produce polished stones, this is the whole universe, which shone all life!
