STIPULA Nut Brown IRIS 24KT GOLD Plate RETRACTABLE NIB FOUNTAIN PEN (444 out of 926)

LIMITED TO 926 PIECES.

PN04 CUQM

Stipula recalls the vibrant life of Iris, a young member of the family of the founder of the company, with affectionate nostalgia and it is to her that the Iris Rosada fountain pen is dedicated, in the year that would have marked her hundredth birthday.

The pen revives the essential lines of the early Twenties as expressed in the fullness of the Art Déco style, in tones of hazelnut that create sprightly plays of color on the barrel. The trim is in 24k gold plate. The totally original filling system consists of an easy-to-use, retractable "pin" piston mechanism, operated by a metal ring, that fully retracts the nib into the barrel. The clip rotates through 360° to assure a perfect grip for any user.

Series: Limited worldwide to 926 ( No longer In Production)

Material: Celluloid

Product Details:

It was July 16, 1926, when iris boarded ship headed for New York. Born in Florence in 1900, Iris had always been high-spirited and exuberant, and possessed of a great talent for the dance. Even as a little girl, she had insisted on studying dance - against the will of her parents, who wanted for her a more traditional education.

So in that far-off 1926, buoyed up by her dreams and high hopes, she set sail in search of the dance company that would have secured her success and fame. She made it to Broadway, where she began to work. Beautiful, young, blessed with a beguiling expression and an aura of natural charm, she immediately captured the attention of the public. Early in the last century, iris challenged everyone and everything and succeeded in her dream of living a full life as she imagined it. A few precoius letters are the only token still left to us of her inexhaustible vitality - letters that still transmit, to those who jealously presever them, that atmosphere of adventure and inexplicable mystery with which they were suffused when they arrived here in Italy nearly eighty years ago.

Stipula recalls the vibrant life of this buoyant young woman, a member of the family of the founder of the company, with affectionate nostalgia - and it is to her that we are dedicating the collection of fountain pens "Iris", in this year that would have marked her hundredth birthday

Filling System This is a piston or captive converter filler. After the cap has been used to extend the nib, remove the cap and twist the knob to fill the barrel.

Color "Hazelnut" celluloid that was cured over 6 years. It looks a lot like vintage pearl and black celluloid after it has ambered. The trim is 24k gold plated and includes a wise band towards the end of the barrel. The cap has a piece of the celluloid in it and the clip rotates around the barrel to adjust your grip.

Nib MEDIUM 18k. This is a factory nib that writes with strong line variation and nice springyness. Stipula gold nibs are quite soft. Please see the writing sample below.

Condition: New (Excellent +)condition. The filling system was refurbished by Stipula in late 2017. The pen has handwear and polishing marks, with some fine scratches on the clip. The imprints are easily read and the mechanisms work well. Ships in the original Iris box.

In order to use this pen, a few steps need to be taken. They're outlined in the paperwork, but we will explain it here as well. Unthread the cap and then post it on the barrel. When pushed down all the way, it acts as a key that locks into a hidden mechanism. The cap can then be turned clockwise to extend the nib or counterclockwise to retract it. If you want to fill the pen, extend the nib and then remove the cap. The knob at the end of the barrel can then be turned to move the piston seal within the pen.
