The Pilote tailgate tent by Brunner was introduced new in 2020 and is one of 2 different sized frameless tailgate shelters that we stock.
This tent is a perfect fit for VW Caddy model with a rear tailgate that lifts vertically.
The tailgate tent simply affixes underneath your rear tailgate door with straps hold it in place. The tent then gets pegged to the ground and your good to go!
No poles required for the tent pitching; all fittings are included for an instant extra room for your Campervan.
It can be set up with the large rear door pegged open to give you an extension to your kitchen and living quarters. Or even just extra emergency dry storage when the weather turns! The real beauty of the design is the speed you can set it up and take it down means it's great for occasional use or regular alike.
We supply the Brunner Pilote including the optional 2 door poles as standard.
That means if you choose to sit underneath your tailgate tent the door can be pegged firmly 'open'. (see the photographs)

This model of tailgate tent does not include a groundsheet.
This tailgate tent is specifically designed to fit a VW Caddy and we are often asked if it will fit other models of campervan.
We have not tried it on every model and from customer feedback know it doesn't fit a Citroen Berlingo or a Caddy Maxi.
If you are wondering if it will fit your campervan, then the following 3 features are critical:
1. A tailgate style boot door - it will not work with barn door style boot doors
2. A van roof height of 170cm - any higher or lower and it will not fit
3. A boot width of 135cm - any wider or narrower and it will not fit
