**Tonight we will be listing some historic items from the GM Skinner fishing lure company out of Clayton, NY. If you collect Skinner lures, early NY metal lures, or 1000 islands NY items, please be sure to check out my other Skinner company listings!**

This listing is for a lot of 50+ 1920's era GM SKINNER Company letters written/typed by HA Whittemore. The HA Whittmore company purchased GM Skinner INC and these correspondences deal with Whittmore overseeing the running of the Clayton, NY business from Boston, MA! Almost all of these letters are from the years 1924 and 1925. There are some really interesting topics covered in these letters: There was some drama with Mr and Mrs. Clark who were employed to oversee the factory in Clayton--Mr Clarks eventual firing papers are included in this lot! Certain Skinner baits were having trouble with the draw wires that were purchased from the AB Hendryx company, some of that is covered in these letters. There are numerous letters alluding to things do with the lures--nickel plating, treble hooks, copper finish, in both terms of quality and quantity. There is one really good letter on GM Skinner letterhead from Oct 30, 1924 where Whittemore writes "One thing is certain; if the Skinner bait business cannot be continued at Clayton, there are other places where it can be continued; and if those who are now working in the shop are not interested enough in their work to keep the business in Clayton, why other arrangements will have to be made. None of the employees should have the idea that GM Skinner Inc will not continue, whether they are there or not and whether the business is located in Clayton or somewhere else"!!

Some of these letters are on Skinner letterhead, while others are on HA Whittemore letterhead, all are written or typed by Whittemore. Only one is truly handwritten by Whittemore, the others are typed and hand signed by Whittemore. Overall the letters are in very good condition, with 2 or 3 letters having heavy wear. Really fascinating look into the day to day of this 1000 islands business!
