This uncirculated 50 Egyptian piaster banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Egypt in 2017. It bears the signature of Tarek Hassan Amer. Its obverse side features the oldest mosque in Egypt, the Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo. Its reverse side shows a carving of Rameses II in battle, stylized papyrus flowers, a prow of a reed boat, the name of Rameses II in a cartouche, and the granite statue of Rameses II holding a heka—the symbol for Egyptian leadership and pharaohs—from the Museo Egizio in Italy. Though the note does not have a security thread, it has a serial number that starts in 331, its denomination as a registration device, and a watermark of the mask of Tut-Ankh-Amon. Its dimensions are 135 mm x 70 mm.
