The Mozambique 500 Meticais banknote is part of the 1986 issues. It is blue in color and measures 140 x 68 mm. The obverse side shows a Portuguese text, the Permanent Commission seated behind Samora Mois Machel addressing Peoples Assembly, the coat of arms, and a crowd waving papers (possibly voter identification cards). The reverse side features a Portuguese text, a bank logo with hoe and pickaxe, a man and woman wearing lab coats working with chemical equipment, and a teacher instructing five seated adults with wooden lap desks. This banknote uses a solid security thread and contains a watermark with a Bust of Samora Mois Machel design.
