P. SOLORZANO
In 1953, Fidel Castro launched an attack on the Moncada Barracks in a
failed attempt to overthrow the Batista regime. At about the same time, also 1953,
Solorzano painted a series of paintings depicting rural Cuba;
livestock, lush gardens, clean water, and overall beauty.

Art changed after Fidel became Prime Minister in 1969. Artists could safely only paint
"Socialist" art depicting the revolution and related themes.
As such, Solorzano's rural series of 16 x 20 oils, marks a turning point.

I have seen others in this series. My offering stands apart from the others
for its excellent condition. Others I've seen are faded and otherwise damaged.
I acquired this work by Solorzano from an estate-charity sale of
paintings by Hispanic artists, all of which were 70-90 years old
but in similarly excellent condition. Well cared-for.

One other work from this series by Solorzano is currently on ebay.
Rural Country Scene same size, $695
I offer my excellent 16 x 20 Solorzano framed to be 20 x 24
for $450 or Best Offer.
