The Iron Cross was one of the awards of the Ukrainian Liberation War of 1917-1921. At the same time, it is the only military award of the UPR Army. Its full name: "Iron Cross for the winter campaign and battles."
Soldiers of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic who took part in the First Winter Campaign were awarded this distinction. They were called "Knights of the Order of the Iron Cross".
The iron cross is quite simple, rectangular in black, with copper borders inside - a four-rayed, yellow metal star, on which is placed a blue circle with a trident in it, on the back the inscription: "For a winter hike", then - date and number. The first issue was in very limited quantities, and the next - mass circulation, 5 thousand, differed in that the star was decorated with rays. Then, much later, there was a third issue, an additional one.
The width of the tape - (reprinted) - 35 mm, with three blue stripes on a yellow background. Trident in a smooth star without "rays". The original ribbon based on the rulebook was to be 30 mm wide with three blue and three yellow stripes. The original diploma was issued in Warsaw in 1920 - reprinted in S. S. A. in a reduced size.
