Matthäus Merian der Ältere was a Swiss-born engraver who worked in Frankfurt Germany as geographer, and later (circa 1640) with his own son.
Martin Zeiler was written a lot of books (90 works of his are already available in Ulm's public library). His most famous work, due to his role as the author of the text, is the extensive work of the Topographia Germaniae by Matthäus Merian der Ältere.
