The Stepper Motor/Idle Speed Controller is a common fault on Mitsubishi's
The Idle speed control valve, sometimes called a stepper motor is effectively an automatic Choke which slowly allows the idle to drop back to normal when warming up from cold.
A faulty one will cause cutting out at junctions, variable idling and may continue when car warmed up. :-)
