A copiously illustrated volume (506 in-text illustrations and 48 color plates!) on the territories of the Uganda Protectorate. Written by British explorer and colonial administrator Sir Harry Johnston (1858-1927), who made several expeditions to the African continent on behalf of the British Government and the Royal Geographical Society. This led him to the Uganda Protectorate in 1899, tasked with "reorganizing" its administration. Written from a decidedly colonial perspective but with fascinating botanical and zoological notes and illustrations.
