Antique copper engraving of the Battle of the Bay of Eski Foca near the town of Foça in now the Gulf of İzmir, Turkey between the Ottoman and Venetian navy.
To the left and right of the title banner it portraits of the two commanders Giacomo da Riva (Venetians) and Voinok Achmed Pasha (Turk).
Under the map a letter description of the different ships.

Artist Cartographer: Merian Matthäus (1593 - 1650) Frankfurt a.M.

Matthäus Merian der Ältere was a Swiss-born engraver who worked in Frankfurt Germany as geographer, and later (circa 1640) with his own son.

Origin: Theatrum Europaeum by Matthäus Merian, published between 1633 and 1738 in 21 quarto volumes.
