In fair condition with some rubbing and wear to original red cover boards. Spine loose, with lower portion cracked. Binding also loose, but in good working order. Browning to pages but color plates still clean and vibrant. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. 

A very scarce portfolio of Roman Egyptian funerary portraits, unearthed at Fayum by British archaeologist Flinders Petrie (1853-1942). These were panel paintings depicting an individual, which would be affixed to their mummified body after death. Petrie gives a brief overview at the introduction of this volume. First-edition, with beautiful full-color plates mounted on sturdy cardstock.
