In good condition. Light wear to extremities with minor scuffing along corners and end bands. Slight soiling overall to surface of vellum from age, old waxes and oxidation. Two slits for ribbon ties exist on the right hand side of the front board.. no ribbons are present. Gilt finishing bright and clean. Stamped coat of arms of Amsterdam on frotn and rear boards center. Manuscript label on spine. Old hand notations in Latin on front end papers. Prize leaf tipped-in “Ingenuous Optimaeque Spei Adolescentulo, Joanni Foosting (?), Hoc industariae praemium, In Classe Sexta nova, Pubice dederunt Ampliss. Dd. Cross. & Scholarae Amstelaedamenses, Quod Testor Isaacus Verburg Gymnasii Publici Amstelaedamensis Recor. Promotion verna Prid. Id. Aprilis ccxxxvii (1702). Interior lightly toned with scattered light foxing. An occasional spot. Binding tight and intact. Speckled edge. Very nice! Please see photos.

The works attributed to Lucius Annaeus Florus circa 74-130 AD, a Roman historian who lived in the time of Hadrian and Trajan. Prize binding with speciality coat of arms of Amsterdam given to a “young man of hope for hard work.”
