This outstanding and intricately detailed and beautifully colored original Surrealist Masonic painting by Internationally acclaimed artist Ari Roussimoff is titled “Chamber of Reflection”. It is signed and dated, acrylic on canvas 16 x 20 inches and was painted during 2017-2018. In Freemasonry, the Chamber of Reflection is a special room where one goes to contemplate and meditate on the meaningfulness and purpose of their life. The composition is very symbolic. The skull represents mortality. Roussimoff’s unique interpretation references life, death, hope, time, valor, love, fears, regret, loss, martyrdom, responsibility, passion, judgement and eternity. Included are Knights Templar, whose image the artist uses to convey devotion to a noble ideal. The legendary figure of Hiram Abiff carries his philosophic responsibilities on his shoulders, symbolized by a huge Square and Compass. His four hands replace the traditional beehive to show industry and unification for common good. A demon lurks below, waiting to capture and devour gullible souls who have chosen to walk an immoral path. Metaphorically, each detail corresponds to the others.
