I love all kinds of stamps. Some of my favorites are the various French Colonial Stamps.

This pair of stamps from the (currently) Union of Comoros- the Islands gained independence in the 1970's. This small grouping of volcanic islands is off the coast of Africa in the Indian Ocean. Very close to Madagascar, the islands had a shared history as French Colonies.

In 1950, Comoros was changing. This is the first year "ARCHIPEL DES COMOROS" (Archipelago of Comoros) was printed on their postal stamps. Also note, some stamps are valued in francs and other valued in cents.

The 2 franc yellow-green stamp depicts a young woman grinding grain. There are actually three variations on this stamp- a 2f, 5f, and a 6f- each a different color.

The 10 cent  blue stamp features a local scene, depicting Anjouan Bay. Anjouan Island is one of the larger islands of Comoros. Again, there were three stamps in different colors featuring this scene- the 10 cent, 50 cent, and a 1 Franc stamp.

I want to be clear the pair of stamps I am selling are beautiful stamps. The pair is pristine and represents the stamps sets perfectly.

Again, I am selling a pair. If you want complete sets of these stamps you will have to find and purchase all six stamps.

Personally, in this instance, and many times, I am happy to have one or two stamps that are representative, as opposed to trying to purchase all the stamps.

This pair of stamps are in mint condition. Absolutely pristine. The centering, the color, the printing, the crisp perforations and flawless original glue is amazing.
The stamps look like they were printed yesterday. It is hard to believe they are actually 70+ years old!

This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a fabulous set of stamps from an obscure French Colony.

The Comoros today are a curious mix of Afro, Arabic, and French. Sadly, there is great political instability and poverty.
