This poster is an exhibition poster used for promotional ends and not as a commercial product. This poster was distributed by small electric vans driven through Amsterdam to be hung in cafe's and cultural institutions. Because this was the main reason, the back of this poster is of socalled 'blueback' so the underlying poster being pasted over does not shine through the paper.

In its form, the poster is the true 1st streetart of the modern era especially at the beginning of the 1880's. A poster designed for sales purposes is something else; it is ment to 'steal' power of expression in order to lighten you from some money. The poster here for sale is NOT that; it is a poster which has hung around the city of Amsterdam for promotional purposes. In that sense it is true streetart, regardless if the image has streetart origins. It has earned its right to take its place among other historic posters, something an 'artprint' can never do.  This exhibition was organised on authority of the museum her curators.

Guaranteed original. No art print, no scan, no reprint. 'Just' an original poster used for hanging around the city of Amsterdam. This poster is very rare. The pasted posters could not be saved and after a while all posters left were destroyed. A few undamaged copies remained.
