The 1981 British pound banknote features a portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth II, a medallion with the caduceus, cornucopia and olive branch inside, and an image of a seated Britannia on its obverse side, and highlights Sir Isaac Newton and some of his contributions to the advancement of the scientific field on its reverse side. The note has a watermark of Isaac Newton, and a solid security thread. This note was withdrawn on March 1988. It measures 135 mm by 67 mm.
