Short Description of Oak Bark (Cortex Quercus):
The mighty oak tree looms large in both mythology and herbal medicine and has been part of the plant pharmacopoeia for thousands of years.
The bark from the oak tree is the only part that is used medicinally
The astringent effects of the Oak were well known to the Ancients, by whom different parts of the tree were used, but it is the bark which is now employed in medicine. Its action is slightly tonic, strongly astringent and antiseptic. It has a strong astringent bitter taste, and its qualities are extracted both by water and spirit. The odour is slightly aromatic.

What does Oak Bark tea taste like?
Astringent taste has a constricting quality as herbs that contain tannin, like oak bark. Smooth and pleasantly earthy taste.

How to use/consume Dried Oak Bark?
Tea/Infusion 1:
1-2 teaspoons of oak bark are boiled for 3-4 minutes in 1/2 liter of water.
Tea/Infusion 2:
1 teaspoon of finely chopped bark is boiled for 10 minutes in 500 ml of water. The decoction is filtered and drunk 50 ml. 3 times a day before meals.
Compresses and Tea/Infusion 3:
One to two tablespoons of oak bark, boiled for 20 minutes in two cups of water, applied to the skin three to five times per day (this dose is also for a tea to drink).
The same tea/infusion is used for gargling and rinsing.
