The Frisian people are a German ethnic indigenous group. North Frisian and Stateland Frisian are recognized as regional dialects of the German language. The Frisii are first mentioned in documents discussing the 12 BCE Drusus war against the Rhine Germans and the Chauci. In 1568, they joined the Dutch in the revolt against Philip II. These volumes discuss their pottery practices, including plates.
