Antoine de Rivarol was a French Loyalist writer who lived and worked during the Revolutionary Era. His translation of the work of Dante was largely favored by the French. He wrote often about republicanism and in defense of the Old Regime. He left France in exile in 1792, and moved to Berlin where he remained for the rest of his life. Issues with binding could provide an excellent opportunity for restoration, if desired by the buyer.
