PCGS authenticated and graded AU 58. Very attractive frosty light to medium brown. Sharply struck with full radial lines in all the stars. There are a few light contact marks including two horizontal nicks under the eye and a short, light scratch right of the lower nick. EDS, the earliest seen. The remnants of the errant star right of the date are sharp and there is a phantom leaf outlined under ME in AMERICA (the phantom leaf is a feature not mentioned in the Newcomb or Wright references). In addition there is a bold double profile along the back of the portrait, from the top of the hair bun down to the lowest curl, plus minor strike doubling on the nostril and chin. An interesting strike in a neat die state. Satiny mint luster shows in the fields and protected areas and this cent has great eye appeal. CAC Certified.
