Easter Parade Ensemble

The essence of spring fashion in 1959 was captured in a famous ensemble for Barbie doll, called Easter Parade. It was offered only in that debut year and is eagerly sought by collectors today. The apple-print polished cotton sheath dress was worn with a black faille coat featuring a stand up collar, a gathered black yoke, and patch pockets trimmed with generous bows. The matching hat was a large bow of organza. Like any smart young lady of the era, Barbie doll wore short white gloves, a graduated "pearl" necklace, and carried a black patent clutch bag.

Commuter Set Ensemble

This ensemble was available from 1959 to 1960. The outfit consisted of a navy suit with two blouses - a mini-check for daytime use and a white satin for evening wear. A red flowered silk hat also came with this outfit... complete with it's own hatbox! Completing the outfit was a double-strand crystal beaded necklace, a matching bracelet, and short white gloves.

Fraternity Dance Ensemble

The biggest social event on campus in 1965 was the annual Fraternity Dance. Barbie's gown displays the characteristic accent on texture and strong colors that marked the couture of the mid 1960's. This ensemble had a lined bodice of white lace atop a dramatic full skirt of pink taffeta with a fuchsia chiffon overskirt. At the waist was a double sash of brilliant blue and green, fastened with a faux amethyst brooch. Her formal look was made complete by long white tricot evening gloves, a single "pearl" on a chain necklace, and fuchsia open-toe shoes.

Condition:

The item has been owned by an adult for the last 27 years. Box shows wear and has been opened. Ornaments have never been displayed or removed from the box. Please refer to photos for condition. I was very pleased with how well the ornaments matched the original Barbie dolls and ensembles.
