This used 1,000 Italian lira banknote is a standard circulation banknote issued by the Bank of Italy. It is a green, purple, and yellow banknote that is dated 3 October 1990, bear the signatures of Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Fortunato Speziali, and measures 112 mm x 61 mm. Its obverse side features the Italian educator, Maria Montessori, and the seal of the Maritime Republics (the provinces of Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa, and Venice). Its reverse side shows two schoolchildren studying and the penal code. Security features of the note include a solid security thread and watermarks of Maria Montessori and an electrotype BI monogram.
