The Vollard Suite was named after the great Ambroise Vollard - one of the greatest art dealers and publishers of our time - and features 100 etchings created especially by Pablo Picasso between 1930 and 1937.

At the time of their creation it seems their boldness and presentation caused them to be turned down by all the collectors of the day. However, today we place them amongst the great cultural achievements of the 20th Century.

History has vindicated Vollard's artistic instinct and his championship of once controversial painters such as Cezanne, Renoir, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Rousseau - not to mention Picasso himself.

This rare edition was created by Thames and Hudson and printed in Germany by Verlag Gerd Hatje, Stuttgart, in 1956.
