Advantage Eagle [F-15] Anniversary CANVAS Limited Edition Print Signed by William S. Phillips - 555th T.F.S Squadron Luke AFB

This classic aviation art illustrates the moment when adrenaline 'kicks in' drawing upon the Pilot's knowledge and experience coupled with the absolute desire to 'Win', which is, and becomes everything.

This art is by one of the USA's most acclaimed aviation artists, is personally hand signed by William S. Phillips and comes with its own numbered Certificate of Authenticity [CoA].

Here are a few words by William S. Phillips about this magnificent art:

"Everything about the F-15, down to the selection of its name, “Eagle,” was meant to convey all that was positive, powerful and purposeful, not only about the aircraft, but the Air Force and the United States of America. Its job: total air superiority. “Advantage Eagle" is a term that will be heard frequently as long as the F-15 is flying.

This F-15, aircraft number 4082, is an "A" version that was assigned to the Triple Nickel 555th Tactical Fighter Training Squadron at Luke Air Force Base outside of Phoenix in the early 80’s. In this action, the Air Force is in a joint training mission with the Navy over the Arizona desert. A Navy F-4, ahead in the distance, is engaged in low-level dissimilar air combat maneuvering (ACM) to evade the F-15.

The pilot is going to have to be awfully good . . . the Eagle has the advantage and is a hard plane to shake. To impart a feeling of power and motion, the landscape is at a slight angle and the foreground is blurred as the Eagle roars by at about 500 knots.

There were only 75 of these stunningly beautiful Advantage Eagle [F-15] Anniversary CANVAS Limited Edition Print Signed by William S. Phillips created for the Worldwide market!   Each comes with its own numbered Certificate of Authenticity [CoA].

The ‘hall mark’ of a Master Aviation Artist is in their ability to show aircraft from different flight angles and in their different elements.  This ‘down on the deck’ 3/4 port forward looking view, with the U.S. Navy Phantom spotted, captures the sheer speed of low-level 500 knot air combat engagements with the Jet providing the desired 'Full Afterburner Power'.  The exceptional construct of this art is the artist putting you right into this moment as another fully engaged participant in Advantage Eagle at the 555th T.F.S Squadron Luke AFB

This Advantage Eagle [F-15] Anniversary CANVAS Limited Edition Print Signed by William S. Phillips - 555th T.F.S Squadron Luke AFB captures all the vivid color and brilliance of the original William S. Phillips work of art. At 31"w x 23"h, this is stunning'Landscape across your wall art', that outstandingly captures the dramatic Arizona landscape used  for Air Combat Maneuvering [ACM] training and these two different generation Jets going 'head to head'.  It is an important signed historical aviation art piece for any collection.

There are many hours of training and 'day to day' moments that go into making a 'current' Air Combat Pilot and many are only recorded in Pilot Log Books. This magnificent art, powerful in its presentation, honours the commitment to being the World's Best Aviators and Fighter Pilots in the modern day era.

Mission Profile (source Wikipedia)

555th Fighter Squadron: After nine years of combat operations in Vietnam, the 555th returned to the United States. In 1974, the squadron moved to Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, where it transitioned to the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle and became part of the 405th Tactical Training Wing, training pilots transitioning to the F-15 Eagle.  The squadron was then redesignated the 555th Fighter Squadron (555 FS) on 1 November 1991.

The 555th Fighter Squadron provides combat airpower on demand to U.S. and NATO Combatant Commanders as well as the National Command Authority in order to meet National Security objectives.  The 555th Fighter Squadron is part of the 31st Operations Groupat Aviano Air Base, Italy. It operates General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft conducting air superiority missions.

Its duties also include performing air and space control and force application roles of counterair, strategic attack and counterland, including interdiction and close-air support, with 21 F-16CMs employing state of the art munitions in support of the joint, NATO, and combined operations.

The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is an American twin-engine all-weather tactical fighter aircraft designed by McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) to gain and maintain air supremacy in aerial combat. The United States Air Force selected McDonnell Douglas' design in 1967 to meet the service's need for a dedicated air superiority fighter. The Eagle entered service in 1976. It is among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat, with the majority of the kills by the Israeli Air Force.

The Eagle has been exported to Israel, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. The F-15 was originally envisioned as a pure air superiority aircraft. The aircraft design proved flexible enough that an all-weather strike derivative, the F-15E Strike Eagle, an improved and enhanced version was later developed and entered service in 1989. As of 2017, the aircraft is being produced in different variants with production set to end in 2022.

Collectors Hints (Space and Aviation Firsts © 2017-2023).

Collectors Hint 1 – What is a Fine Artwork Canvas?

Limited Edition Canvas is often much 'more restricted' in their availability Worldwide.

Fine Artwork Canvas is intended to reproduce the presentation of the original oil or acrylic painting on stretched canvas.  This is absolutely the option of choice if you have the desire and preference to mirror the original painting in 3D presentation with texture and look.

If you have the desire and preference to mirror the original painting in presentation and texture similar to the painting this is absolutely the option of choice.

They are stunningly beautiful in their presentation and are often larger in Size for that ‘Stand Out Impressiveness’ upon your Wall.

Collectors Hint 2 - What is a 'Giclee' Limited Edition Print?

A Limited Edition Print uses the Giclee printing technique for very high quality.

The Term: The term "Giclee print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology, which is exactly what it is.

Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The Giclee printing process provides better colour accuracy than other means of reproduction. Archival quality ensures that the prints are light-fast and non-water soluble.

The Quality: The quality of the "Giclee print" rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatine printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.

Collectors’ Hint 3 - William S. Phillips

Phillips grew up loving art but never thought he could make it his livelihood. At college he majored in criminology and had been accepted into law school when four of his paintings were sold at an airport restaurant. That was all the incentive he needed to begin his work as a fine art painter. Bill Phillips is now a renowned aviation artist after one of his paintings was presented to King Hussein of Jordan, Phillips was commissioned by the Royal Jordanian Air Force. He developed sixteen major paintings, many of which now hang in the Royal Jordanian Air Force Museum in Amman.

The Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum presented a one-man show of Phillips’ work in 1986. He is one of only a few artists to have been so honored. In 1988, Phillips was chosen to be a U.S. Navy combat artist. For his outstanding work, the artist was awarded the Navy’s Meritorious Public Service Award and the Air Force Sergeants Association Americanism Medal.

At the prestigious annual fund raiser for the National Park Service, Bill’s work has been included in the Top 100 each year he has entered the competition and his work has won the Art History Award twice. Phillips was selected as the Fall 2004 Artist in Residence at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon and tapped by the U.S. Postal Service to paint the stamp illustrations and header design for a pane of twenty stamps in 1997 entitled Classic American Aircraft. He was chosen again in 2005 for a pane of twenty stamps (ten designs) entitled American Advances in Aviation. Bill’s major collection of aviation art, Into the Sunlit Splendor, was published by The Greenwich Workshop Press in 2005.
