Fine edition of the Hondius Janssonius map Asia Minor of Cyprus and the Greek islands.
The maps shows the towns Famagusta que olim (before) Famastus, Nocosia olim (once) Tremitus (Twelfe miles to the west from Nicosia is the hamlet of Tremitus) (year 326) Paphia (Paphos) and many mountains (Olympus) and other old places and villages also in the North a Aqueduct.
Also the Greek North Aegean Islands (once): Stalimene, Chio, Mitylene, Negroponte, Cerigo & Rhodo.
A sea monster, a Vessel and a decorative title cartouche with Cyprus Ins. and a Italy and German mile scale complete the map.

Cartographer: Jodocus Hondius

Jodocus Hondius (Latinized version of his Dutch name: Joost de Hondt) (14 October 1563 – 12 February 1612), sometimes called Jodocus Hondius the Elder to distinguish him from his son Jodocus Hondius II, was a Flemish / Dutch engraver, and cartographer. He is best known for his early maps of the New World and Europe, for re-establishing the reputation of the work of Gerard Mercator, and for his portraits of Francis Drake. He helped establish Amsterdam as the center of cartography in Europe in the 17th century.
