This is the original CatCompanion refill kit. It is made of high quality components and the same connectors as the original CatGenie chip reader. Some cheap copies use single pin connectors which are easy to fall out. I noticed that some sellers steal my instruction manual and my photos :( . Please beware of that.

Q: Why do I need this device to refill my SaniSolution Cartridge?
A: CatGenie cannot run without a SaniSolution Cartridge nor with an empty Cartridge. Even if you refill your empty Cartridge, CatGenie will still refuse to work. Why? Because each SaniSolution Cartridge has a chip inside it, a counter in the chip stores the remaining cleaning cycles you can use. When CatGenie finishes a cleaning cycle, the counter will decrease by one count. Correspondingly, the CatGenie unit has a chip reader. The chip reader keeps checking if the SaniSolution Cartridge is installed and how many remaining cycles are left. If CatGenie cannot detect the Cartridge or the remaining cycles of the SaniSolution Cartridge is zero, it will refuse to work and blink Cartridge LED and Error LED with beeps. You can easily refill the Cartridge but you cannot reset the counter of the Cartridge.
This device simulates a SaniSolution Cartridge. It communicates with CatGenie, telling it the Cartridge is installed. This device has a counter inside it. The maximum counts is 120, which is the same as a new SaniSolution Cartridge. However, this counter is resettable. When your CatGenie finishes 120 cleaning cycles, the remaining cycles stored in the counter will become 0. Now you can reset the counter to 120 cycles again by power-cycling your CatGenie. In one word, this device serves as virtual cartridge, and you can reset this virtual cartridge to full status again and again.
Q: Does it work with CatGenie A.I. Model?
A: CatCompanion does not work with CatGenie A.I. model. Because in the A.I. model, the chip reader is integrated on the main control board, which is mounted as a whole on the side of the cartridge well. There is no way to disconnect the chip reader and plug the CatCompanion.
