La-200 is a Soviet fighter-interceptor developed by OKB-301.
In 1948, a technical assignment was issued for the creation of a twin-engine all-weather interceptor with a crew of two. According to this technical task, the Design Bureau of S. A. Lavochkin designed the La-200 - a mid-wing with a swept wing and plumage. Two turbojet engines Vladimir Klimov VK-1 with a thrust of 26.47 kN were installed on the La-200. On the plane, both engines were installed in the fuselage one above the other so that the nozzle of the first was at the level of the trailing edge of the wing, and the nozzle of the second was in the rear fuselage.
The La-200-01 was equipped with a Thorium radar, the armament consisted of three H-37 guns in the bow. On tests, the aircraft in level flight developed a speed slightly less than M=1. The La-200-02 with the Thorium-A radar was also tested.
The La-200B aircraft was distinguished by a modified forward fuselage with three air intakes and a large radome for the RP-6 Sokol antenna. The La-200B was designed according to the terms of reference for a long-range loitering interceptor. Huge fuel tanks were hung under the wing of the La-200B, the capacity of each of them was more than twice the capacity of the internal tanks. The power plant included two modified VK-1A turbojet engines with a thrust of 30.39 kN each.
The first flight of the La-200B was completed in July 1952, but the competition for the interceptor was won by the Yak-25. The program was finally closed after the installation of the Emerald radio sight on the MiG-15.
