This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver and mother of pearl cutlery set consists of twelve table knives, twelve table forks, twelve dessert knives and twelve dessert forks.
Both the dessert and table knives have plain subtly tapering rounded blades with rounded tips.
The dessert fork has a waisted shaft and two tines; the table forks have four tines.
Each piece is fitted with a plain tapering, rounded mother of pearl handle.
This antique dessert cutlery set is fitted to the original hinged mahogany box with three lift out trays and a satin and velvet lined interior.
The cover of the box is embellished with a veneered walnut panel incorporating a shield shaped vacant brass cartouche to the centre.
The rim of the box bears the inset retailer"s mark "Boodle & Dunthorne, Silvermsiths, Lord Street, Liverpool".
ConditionThe pieces of this antique mother of pearl dessert cutlery set are a very good gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition.
The box is in excellent condition in keeping with age.
Full hallmarks struck to the reverse of each piece are all very clear.
