Philip Gough was born in England, and illustrated numerous books, including
Fairy Tales of Hans Christian Anderson for Peter Lunn Publishers in 1947, and Jane Austen's Emma (1948), Pride and Prejudice (1951), Mansfield Park (1957), and Sense and Sensibility
(1958). Gough illustrated
over 40 titles between 1947 and 1973, as well as dust jackets for many
more.
