Description

This exceptional antique Newcastle sterling silver cream jug has a circular rounded compressed form onto a circular pedestal foot.

The body of this Georgian silver cream jug is plain and unembellished.

The subtly flared upper rim is ornamented with an impressive applied leaf decorated border, incorporating a plain applied moulded segment to the spout"s lip.

This fine example of antique silverware is fitted with an impressive cast opposing scrolling handle, incorporating a large scrolling leaf design to the thumbpiece, in addition to the lower terminal.

The plain circular foot is encircled with a plain applied moulded border.

The interior of this antique silver cream jug retains the original gilding.

Condition

This antique Georgian silver cream jug is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional presentation condition.

The applied and cast decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the spout are clear in keeping with age and location; the first portion of the maker"s mark and is illegible.
